Aldi Sweet Beetroot Crisps Review
REVIEW
Aldi have added to their “Specially Selected” Luxury Range of crisps, these Sweet Beetroot Crisps ina Sea Salt and Balsamic flavour in 100g bags for £1.29. Totally dark and deep maroon in colour, these crisps are differently shaped, some round some curled and attract a lot of attention when placed on the table with other snacks.
How do they taste? Well initially it has a smokey, burnt, bitter and sweet taste before the barbecue smoke flavour subsides to leave a Beetroot type of flavour. The strong flavours that you get are the sweet vinegarry taste from the Balsamic and the burnt charcoally flavour with an undelying Beetroot taste throughout, its not a strong Beetroot taste and if you didnt know any better you might think it were some other vegetable type crisp, but it has that Beetroot taste pop up into your mouth every now and then and especially in the aftertaste.
Overall it has a Charcoal smokey vegetable taste that makes it feel like its been done on a barbecue and although a bit bitter at times, its weirdly interesting and somewhat addictive in a different sort of way but its not something I would eat a lot of as its not really that enjoyable especially with all the crisps on offer in Supermarket shelves. Probably best to buy just for its look because the taste is not that good even if you are a Beetroot fanatic.

I ate a pack of these when I was stuck in traffic the other day. Top notch crisp. So I thought… Later that night I went to the loo. I was pissing blood. I didn’t remember I ate them, the next morning I checked my pockets and realised that I greedily ate a whole packet. Thus turning my urine blood red. My life flashed before my eyes. Still nice crips though.
That was one of the funniest things I’ve heard for weeks. Actually both funny and alarming. I don’t remember the same thing happening to me….but then again I didn’t wolf it down in one go though! But yeah, I agree, nice crisps
I agree they were delicious, I had the goats cheese and onion flavour, they’re at the top of my shopping list, yummy
I tried these, as I usually make my own parsnip and beetroot crisps, and eat them with homemade guacamole-delicious! These could be an emergency supply. Can anyone tell me though if the sugars, as stated on the back, are natural sugars or whether they have been added. There’s no need to put added sugar in crisps and yet most manufacturers put lots in. I hope they are natural as this will be a great product if that’s the case.
Olbi I feel your pain! The exact thing happened to me. Blood orange coloured wee! I’m 17 weeks pregnant too so it terrified me but all is good just overload of beetroot lol X
I’ve tried these beetroot crisps and they are EXTREMELY salty.
So much so that the inside of the packet has salt particles stuck to the entire inner package.
There must be a production line fault!
I shall be writing directly to Aldi about this.
