Whitworths Cacao Macaroons Review
When I first glanced at these in Tesco’s, I thought that they were another Gluten Free Protein Ball but they’re actually macaroon balls. You get 2 balls in a pack for about £1.50, each about 4cm X 3.5cm and claim to be “crammed with almonds, coconut and flax” and contain a natural source of biotin(23% NRV per pack) which helps support the metabolism.
They taste like a bitter Bounty bar, you get the good strong coconut flavour, you get some sweetness but you also get like a bitter/sour chocolate taste I guess from the cacao. There is also a good all round nuttiness flavour that you get especially towards the end and in the aftertaste. I don’t know if I really like the taste, its the sourish flavours that throw me off but what can you expect from a healthy snack with no added sugar? But that’s it isn’t it, healthy? Healthy it ain’t, especially at 40g of Fat per 100g. That is disappointing. I think I might as well buy a seed mix and a Bounty bar instead next time, I’ll get more enjoyment.
And apparently, according to one or more of our office testers, this product causes a lot of unwanted wind!
